It was announced yesterday that Team Canada has chosen New York Rangers top goalie prospect Dylan Garand At the world championship this summer and has a chance to back up Marc Andre Fleury.

Garand has been very consistent with his play with for the Hartford Wolf Pack and has been eager to get his shot to play as he is the main prospect for the Rangers after Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick.

Garand has produced great numbers this season in the AHL

The 22 year old netminder who stands at six feet and is 172 lbs was drafted by the Rangers in 2020, fourth round 103rd overall.
According to eliteprospects.com he has the ability to move laterally with both speed and precision and can recover well if he has misread the shot.
The 22-year-old recorded a 20-10-9 record with a .913 save percentage, and 2.73 goals against average while also representing the Atlantic Division at the AHL All-Star Game this season. - Remy Mastey

Many feel that his selection will be great for his development as a goaltender in the NHL as he will be able to speak to one of the best goalies in the league and also get valuable experience on how to improve his game from Fleury.
Three other New York Rangers will be playing in this tournament who would include Will Cuyelle, Mika Zibanejad and Brett Berard.

Rangers preparing for offseason and the draft

Now with the off season in full gear for the Rangers, the team is preparing itself for the NHL draft Ann for the pending free agency season which could be a huge game changer for the Rangers going into next year.
General manager Chris Drury have made it clear that he wants to make change to his team, how it looks and how it plays and he had done so as he replaced his head coach with Mike Sullivan.
There's a strong possibility that the Rangers will change many players on the roster including Chris Kreider who has two years left on his deal.
Only time will tell on how the Rangers will look at the end of the offseason but many should expect changes to come fast and furious.
