New York Rangers reportedly set to offer-sheet star forward after recent trade: Per Elliotte Friedman

The New York Rangers and GM Chris Drury are reportedly in on Buffalo Sabres forward John-Jason Peterka. It seems Drury could be channeling his inner ruthlessness, as they prepare an offer sheet for the developing forward.
Acquiring J.J. Peterka from the Buffalo Sabres would help repair a top-six worn down by attrition and the lack of edge this past season.
If GM Chris Drury is to make an offer sheet for the Sabres' future star player, we assume it wouldn't come cheap.
Peterka is expecting a raise after posting 68 points (27-41) in 77 games with the Sabres.
The question is, what would GM Chris Drury have to part ways with, for a forward who could earn a nice pay day of $7-8 million AAV (projected)?
The Rangers could offer Peterka an AAV of $7-7.5 million if we're going by what we've seen projected by "The Win Column", who covers the Flames.
It sounds reasonable, but the Rangers will have to be prepared to give up multiple picks for the 60+ point forward.

The only question is, will GM Chris Drury be willing to dedicate that amount of cap space to Peterka, who is just now developing into a star forward in the NHL?

We think they should be so lucky to receive multiple picks in compensation for Peterka when they've been shopping him around with no buyers so far.
But that could be a skill issue with GM Kevyn Adams.
