The New York Rangers have added defense prospect Scott Morrow in a move that sent K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes. Morrow is part of the ongoing retool in New York, and if compliments mean anything, the Rangers have an elite blueliner on deck.

When the Rangers traded K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes, they received Scott Morrow, a conditional first-round pick, and a 2026 second-round pick in return.
Morrow, 22, is a former second-round pick in 2021 and adds to what once was a thin prospect pool. Now, bolstered with Morrow, who's poised to make an impact in the Rangers' future.
NHL Insider Jonny Lazarus has been hyping up Morrow since he witnessed him in action at UMass, putting up nearly a point-per-game in the NCAA.
«I was on the record saying's he's like the Jack Eichel of the blue line - that kid moves,» Lazarus said on the Buds Mafia podcast. «He's still got a lot to learn, but he's matured a lot over the past few years.»

While it may sound ridiculous, he's a skilled blueliner, and the Rangers should make sure his development stays on track.
Morrow was a big part of the offensive side of the puck at UMass, scoring 94 points (28-66) in 109 games before turning pro.
He entered the spotlight in 2021-22, leading all Hockey East defensemen in scoring and was the first freshman in school history to be named a First Team All-American. His 13 goals and 33 points put him among the top-scoring defensemen in the nation.

He wouldn't disappoint, being a consistent producer, scoring 31 points in his sophomore year and 30 points as a junior. He's known for his puck-moving capabilities and dynamic play style.
Since he turned pro, he'd play in 35 total minutes of ice time and post a -4 in a match against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He'd find a home in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves, scoring 39 points (13-26) in 52 games.
He's seen Stanley Cup playoff action with the Canes due to injuries of Jalen Chatfield and Sean Walker; his lack of maturity led to a dismal -7 outing against the Florida Panthers.
With the recent NHL experience he's had, he's poised to fight for a spot in the NHL lineup this season at training camp.
He'll be competing for a spot in the bottom pairing, depending on where Braden Schneider lands next.
