New details emerge on the New York Rangers acquiring star forward from Central Division team

The New York Rangers do not intend to take this offseason lightly as the organization strives to prioritize their ongoing rebuild.

They have already completed several acquisitions and departures thus far into the summer, however, now with the NHL Entry Draft being completed and majority of big named free agents being off the market, the Rangers are in need to make the rest of their major moves via trade.

And one trade candidate New York has already shown immense interest in is the Dallas Stars' Jason Robertson.

Last month, the Rangers were reportedly calling the Stars regarding the potential acquisition of this player, and new insight has just surfaced regarding what it would take to acquire this forward.

Now, a reporter, Nick Kypreos, revealed that he believes Jason Robertson's asking price for his extension when his contract expires could potentially match Mikko Rantanen's $12M average annual salary (AAV).

With this being said, and the New York Rangers' current cap space being extremely minimal, the likelihood the organization being capable of acquiring Robertson is very minimal.

However, if the organization is set on acquiring this forward, this Original Six franchise might just be able to make it possible if they do everything in their power to get rid of some cap space when it comes time for an extension.

Although it is uncertain whether or not the Rangers would be willing to sacrifice alternative skill for Jason Robertson, New York fans are extremely hopeful.
