During a Q&A session with Rangers hockey fans at Fanaticsfest NYC, New York Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe revealed his offseason life and who he has spent it with.
Rempe has been very vocal about improving his game in all aspects. During the session he mentioned that he had been living with Jonathan Quick in Connecticut after spending a couple of weeks at home in Calgary AB. He also has been working and training with Rangers star Chris Kreider to help him improve his offensive game while learning from the Rangers veteran.
Earlier this summer, he also spent time with former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque. It's been told that Laraque reached out to him to see if he'd be willing to learn how to be a better fighter in the game as Laraque felt he did not have a style.
After a few weeks of working with him. Laraque feels Rempe is ready, and that the NHL will need to watch out as he should be far better than he was before.
Rempe stormed out onto the NHL stage during the latter half of last year. Many players, pundits and fans took notice as he fought several prominent enforcers to establish himself in the league. He also has become a fan favorite and a great energy in the room for the Rangers players.
With all these improvements and training, it remains to be seen on how effective he will be and whether head coach Peter Laviolette will be utilizing more this year.
