Today is the day, the New York Rangers are celebrating legendary play-by-play broadcaster Sam Rosen as they take on the Vancouver Canucks this afternoon.

On March 22nd, the New York Rangers will honor Sam Rosen, a play-by-play announcer who has been with the Blueshirts for 40 years.
The team will be facing J.T. Miller's former team, the Vancouver Canucks. However, today is much more than that as the Rangers will be celebrating Sam Rosen.
The team will have an on-ice ceremony pre-game which will honor Rosen's contributions to the Rangers squad.
His storied career has seen him call impactful games, such as the team's last Stanley Cup win in 1994. But has been with the team since 1984, a whopping four decades with the same organization.

Sam Rosen reveals the real reasoning behind why he's retiring after this season

This season, he announced that his career would end at the end of 2024-2025, and today during his celebration he revealed the true reasoning behind why.
Why was this the time for Sam Rosen to hang it up? #NYR

"Last May I had a little bit of an illness and I missed a couple of playoff games on the radio and I think that hits you...That's when I started to think about it seriously and talk about it with my wife and my family...

I've always said to my family, 'If my level of performance falls off at all you have to tell me because I don't want to be hanging around.' When I go out, this year, I want to have people look at me and say what they're saying, 'Boy, we're going to miss you...You're still at the top of your game.' I think that's the way I want to go out."
Things certainly won't be the same once Sam is gone, hopefully the Rangers can make it a memorable one and push themselves to make the playoffs so Sam Rosen can call one more playoff game.
Truly an amazing career, and for his broadcasting talents, he has won four Emmy Awards and has been nominated to the Hockey Hall of Fame, and the New York State Hall of Fame.
