The New York Rangers are coming off a crushing 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Winnipeg Jets last night. While the Rangers kept the league leading Jets within one goal, the team yet again misses out on a crucial 2 points. Following the defeat, head Peter Laviolette gave his take on his team's performance, and fans are relating.
One can not understate the significance of last night's matchup against the Winnipeg Jets.
With the Rangers season on the line, every single game needs to be played with a playoff style mentality.
Although the Rangers made things interesting by tying the game 1-1, they ultimately fell short.
Peter Laviolette's post game reaction upset fans
After the game, Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette made himself available for his usual interviews, giving his take on his team's effort against the Jets.
"I thought we had looks, I thought we had zone time. They blocked some shots, as well, that didn't get through. We had looks, I think we hit the post 3 times. There was enough there, we just didn't walk away with anything. That goes back to the frustrating part of it, defensively we held them down, held their attempts down, zone time down. Did a pretty good job with regard to that and just not able to get the run support that we need to win."
-Peter Laviolette
According to Laviolette, his team did a good job keeping the Jets at bay, but couldn't muster enough offence to walk away with the win.
Well his reply has sparked outrage on social media, and fans are starting to put their foot down.
Check out what the fans are saying:
I will admit, some of the fan feedback is pretty hilarious.
Regardless, fans have had enough with the losing, and they insist that Laviolette wakes up his team before it's too late.
