New York Rangers linked to unexpected forward as the trade deadline is just a few days away
The New York Rangers are gearing up for one of the most important trade deadlines in recent memory, and a surprising new opportunity has come knocking on GM Chris Drury's doorstep. According to sources, the New York Rangers have been linked to Seattle Kraken forward Jared McCann.
Following an impressive 4-0 shutout win over the Nashville Predators last night, the New York Rangers inch one step closer to a wildcard spot.
That said, the New York Rangers are still very much in the hunt for a shot at the 2025 postseason, and Chris Drury's deadline plans may have shifted.
New York Rangers linked to Jared McCann
While the Rangers do not hold a playoff spot and have started selling, it also makes sense that they are interested in McCann. He notably would be more than a rental for the Blueshirts, as he carries a $5 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season. Thus, he could be a great pickup for a Rangers team that needs help on offense.
-NHL Trade Rumor
Jared McCann is by far Seattle's best forward as he has been since their first season.
The 27 year-old forward came from the Penguins in the expansion draft and has been incredible ever since.
In his first season with the Kraken, McCann put up 50 points in 73 games which was his best season at the time.
Since then, he has put up more than 50 points in every season. In 2022-23, he had a career best in points and goals with 70 points which 40 were goals in 79 games.
This season, McCann is yet again on pace to break the 50 point plateau, and one can only imagine how great he'd look with the Rangers.
