Matt Rempe has shown he's more than capable of being a well-rounded forward in the NHL at the end of last season. Now, he's continuing his journey, as the Calgary-born Blueshirt models his game after Adam Lowry, of the Winnipeg Jets.
Blueshirts forward Matt Rempe has found himself in an advantageous spot this year. He's begun the year in the NHL, as opposed to the constant struggle of having to fight his way up the depth chart.
Now, in his first full year as an NHL forward with a positive trajectory, he has acknowledged the struggles of last year and is looking forward to the path ahead.
"I did what I had to do to carve my path. In Hartford I didn't play much and carved it out doing the fights. Now I take a lot of pride in doing all that, but showing that my game has come a long way"
As a result, he's found himself playing as a regular on the fourth line, a checking line where he and Adam Edstrom have demonstrated chemistry, and at times scoring capabilties.
With Mike Sullivan, Rempe has an opportunity in the bottom six as he's playing a reliable and well-rounded game for the Blueshirts. Which the end of last season, should've convinced everyone.
He's played 8 games for the Rangers this season, scored 1 point (1 G), is a +1, with a Corsi-For% of 56.9 (really good), with 11:00 time on ice per night.
If anything, this is a good trend for the Rangers that one of their bottom-six players is growing into the role, which he knows he can fulfill, and has realistic ambitions.
