The New York Rangers suffered a 5-4 OT loss to the Montreal Canadiens last night. Adam Fox felt the lack of effort led to a frustrating end last night.
The New York Rangers did their best but could not stop
Patrik Laine who won the game with an OT goal.
Patrik Laine was the OT hero for the Canadiens, scoring 3:20 into the extra session after the Rangers led by a goal on four separate occasions throughout a physical matchup in front of an always passionate Bell Center crowd.
Goalie
Jonathan Quick, who made 33 saves in the loss, was denied win No. 400 for a third time.
Fox felt the team played better hockey, but were unable to finish the extra 5 minutes to secure a victory, that the Rangers need if they're to catch the Blue Jackets and their wild card spot in the East.
Despite Fox and the Rangers' best efforts, they were unable to secure Jonathan Quick's 400th win either.
This is a troubling statistic for a team that should be rebounding. We feel the frustration, as the Rangers can play well, but can't seem to win in regulation against a rebuilding team like the Canadiens.
If this was the Fox of old, we could have expected a 3-point night, instead of his 2-assist night which was still respectable.
The Rangers are now 5th in the Metropolitan Division with a 22-20-4 record, and they need to keep pushing if they're catch the Blue Jackets.
