New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba set to be traded after failed attempt this past offseason

The New York Rangers attempted to move Captain Jacob Trouba during the offseason. But there was controversy after the trade never materialized, and Trouba will remain in New York for one more season.
Thanks to his 15-team no-trade clause, he wouldn't be shipped to Detroit or anywhere else.
While he felt no animosity towards GM Chris Drury after the attempted trade, he's currently focused on winning a Stanley Cup with the Rangers this season.
This year the NTC will only apply to 12 teams in the NHL. According to The Athletic's Arthur Staples, could there be some resentment in NYC?
«The brief, futile attempt to get him to waive his no-trade clause and leave this past offseason was a bit ill-advised, but Trouba and his camp seem to understand that this is going to happen next summer with or without their input.»
As of right now, the Rangers have $1.4 Million in salary cap space, with a project cap space of $21.48 Million per PuckPedia.
At the start of the season, Trouba had mentioned how he believed this «would be the last crack for this core».
Trouba could very well be correct with this statement if the Rangers fail to secure a Stanley Cup.
In 12 games with the Rangers this season, Trouba has 5 points, and 13 PIMs with a +3.
If he continues to play with consistency he could find himself on the planes elsewhere. That'd be a great thing for GM Chris Drury.
