Mike Sullivan Provides An Honest Assessment Regarding Jaroslav Chmelar's NHL Debut With The Rangers

Head coach Mike Sullivan gives a very honest assessment on 22-year old Jaroslav Chmelar's NHL debut wth the New York Rangers on Friday night, as they faced off against the Detroit Red Wings.
On Friday night the New York Rangers faced off against the Red Wings at the Little Caesars Arena for an original-six matchup, where they managed to secure a 4-1 victory bringing their record to 7-6-1 on the season.
However, during yesterdays game 22-year offensive prospect Jaroslav Chmelar made his NHL debut where he tallied a total of 6:27 TOI, along with 5 PIM after being involved in a heated altercation.

Certainly a very decent game for the youngster, despite not much seeing much ice time for his first one.
Mike Sullivan Provides On Honest Assessment On Jaroslav Chmelar
Following the game head coach Mike Sullivan was asked by Mollie Walker of the New York Post on how he felt about Chmelar's NHL debut. Here's what he had to say:

"He really looked like he knew what he was doing, I'll tell you that. He's a great kid first and foremost. His enthusiasm was awesome. The team was feeding off it. He's a really likable kid. I think his energy is so great. I believe his parents are here, which is awesome, to see his first NHL game. And then to get in a fight like he did in his first NHL game, he'll remember that for a long time."

Based off Sullivan's comments, it's seems like it's very possible that Chmelar will continue to slot in for the Rangers game on Saturday night against the New York Islanders, unless Vincent Trocheck returns to the lineup.
