Former two-time Stanley Cup-winning coach Mike Sullivan's start to the 2025-26 season has been rough. The team is 5th in the Metropolitan Division, and in order to improve, they need to be able to win at home.
Since the beginning of the season, the Rangers have set a bad trend.
That is losing on home ice, a terrible prospect for a team that is celebrating its Centennial Season in 2025-26.
The team has a record of 0-5-1 at home, and still hasn't managed to pull one win yet in MSG.
Something that should be unacceptable for fans, the front office, and the team itself. His
first win as Rangers coach against a terrible Buffalo Sabres team was humbling, but did the team take notice of the struggles at home?
The New York Rangers Need to Urgently Win Their First Game At Home
Mike Sullivan believes that the team needs to be urgent when they play at home in Madison Square Garden. That being said, he doesn't believe the Rangers have played bad hockey lately, despite their record saying otherwise.
He believes that the team needs to play a game that sets the team up for success, something they've struggled to find success in the midst of games that are viewed in an individualistic lens.
Maybe last night was the game that helped the team find its footing in the NHL again, but we've seen this song and dance before.
Urgency is good, but the team needs to back up the words Sullivan says with great hockey.
