Massive blockbuster trade proposal emerges regarding New York Rangers former first-round draft pick
Massive trade pitch surfaces between the New York Rangers and Seattle Kraken, which sees the Rangers trading their former first-round draft pick.
As the New York Rangers continue to face many struggles this season, there has been a ton of trade speculation that has surfaced. However,
one trade proposal has surfaced which sees the Rangers acquiring
Jared McCann from the Seattle Kraken.
The proposed deal would be considered an offseason blockbuster, as the New York Rangers would acquire a star forward for two younger NHL players and even a first-round pick.
This deal also makes sense for both teams, as the Rangers look to compete while Seattle could use more young talent for its rebuild.
More information regarding this proposed blockbuster trade
Jared McCann is currently in his third year of a five-year $25 million deal, so the New York Rangers would have him for two more years. McCann would slot in a very solid top-six forward for the Rangers while adding some much needed value to the lineup.
Just this season McCann has tallied 18 goals and 33 assists for a total of 52 points in 73 games played.
In return, the Rangers would give up a first-round pick as well as two young players, Brennan Othmann and Zac Jones.
Othmann has one year left on his entry-level deal and would be a middle-six forward for the Kraken, which could help his development as he's having a hard time getting points with the Rangers this season as he's only gotten 1 assist in 15 games.
Seattle would also acquire Jones, who is a pending RFA defenseman. The defenseman has spent his entire career in New York. This season, he's recorded 1 goal and 10 assists for 11 points in 42 games.
With Jones always being a healthy scratch, moving him to a new team might be in his best interest.
