Head coach Peter Laviolette has confirmed that Blake Wheeler has resumed skating on his own.
It was originally believed Wheeler was going to be out the rest of the season after sustaining an ugly-looking injury in a game against the Montreal Canadiens on Feb. 15. But there might be a chance he could be ready at some point in the playoffs.
Wheeler had 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 54 games with the Rangers, alternating between the first and third line on the team, and providing a veteran presence. He is due to be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
