In a recent interview, Jonny Lazarus of the Blue Crew Podcast was a guest on NHL Tonight and was asked how he feels this edition of the Rangers is different compared to last season and how he feels the team will stack up in the playoffs.
He explains to NHL Tonight that even though the Rangers have won the President's Trophy this year the team does not seem to be any different especially with the hype attached to that trophy.
He also states this edition of the Rangers is more of a team game with the additions made at the deadline rather than an individual effort trying to put their game together in a short period of time.
The Rangers have drawn the Washington Capitals in the first round and by all accounts the Rangers should win this series based on statistics and other factors with the capitals having squeaked into the playoffs with a terrible goal differential.
In their preparations for this round, it's important to note that the Rangers will need to work on their five-on-five scoring. This has been a sore spot over the past number of months as the team will need to shake off this issue and be more consistent.
It's also encouraging to note that Igor Shesterkin has played very well he has shaken off his issues from December in January. Both areas will be vital for the Rangers to succeed.
This Rangers series is set to begin on Sunday April 21st, and it will be held at Madison Square Garden at 3:00 PM eastern.
