The Rangers season is now complete, and the presidents trophy winners prepare for their first-round matchup against the Washington Capitals. As pundits and statisticians look over all the metrics that were measured during the season, it appears the Rangers are heavily favored in the first round against the Capitals.
Everything now sets back to zero, with the Rangers now looking forward to how to tackle the capitals and try to close at the series as fast as possible. It seems across the board, the Rangers hold a distinct advantage through goals for, defence and goaltending.
It's important to know that the Rangers cannot be complacent in this as the Capitals still have Alexander Ovechkin who could put his team on his back and try to push through into the second round.
There are certain some storylines that will be shown including former Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette who joined the Rangers this season and now will be facing his old team in their showdown. He will be taking on 1st year Head coach Spencer Carbery who willed his team into the playoffs.
It's going to be a great series and it all begins on Sunday April 21st at 3:00 PM eastern.
