Oh, did I forget to mention the Rangers are the first team to clinch a playoff spot?
Head coach Peter Laviolette addresses the media on the Rangers clinching a playoff berth tonight:
"Just based on the season we've had, there's an assumption that at some point you're going to get in. It's not about that any more. It's about playing the right way"
Peter Laviolette also discusses his massive milestone achievement of 800 wins as a head coach:
"In all honesty, it's a lot of good coaches that I've worked with over a lot of years. A lot of great staffs. So many good players, organizations. Michael Peca was the first to remind me he was there for the first one"
With the win tonight in their 72nd game, the Rangers passed the 100-point threshold in the second fewest games (1971- 72 - 67 GP) in team history.
It marks the 13th 100-point season in team history and third consecutive. Congrats to the Blueshirts!
