It's confirmed: New York Rangers have officially made a decision on Kaapo Kakko
The New York Rangers have officially reached a final decision on Kaapo Kakko's future with the organization.
According to multiple sources and Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, the New York Rangers have and Forward Kaapo Kakko have agreed to terms in a one-year contract extension worth $2.4 million, which would've been his qualifying offer at the end June.
"#NYR re-up Kaapo Kakko on a one-year deal at $2.4 million, which is exactly what his qualifying offer was slated to be later this month. Rangers get some cost certainty." Seravalli said.

Kakko hasn't recently been living up to expectations with the Rangers this year as we've seen a significant decrease in his production during the 2023-24 season. In 61 games this season, Kakko had 19 points (13 goals, six assists), 24 penalty minutes and was a plus-six.
During the playoffs, it seemed to have gotten worse, with Kakko only recording two points (one goal, one assist) in 15 games as the Rangers lost to the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Final.
This will be his final shot with the New York Rangers, so hopefully he can bounce back next season and truly show fans and the organization why he belongs with the team.
