Per NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, former Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren has found a new home in free agency. He's signed a deal with one of the NHL's newest teams, the Seattle Kraken.

The Seattle Kraken have landed a warrior defenseman in Ryan Lindgren. Today, it was announced by NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman that they've signed the former Ranger to a 4-year, $4.5 million deal.
This is the kind of deal Lindgren was initially looking to sign in New York, before he was traded after his "prove-it" period ended.
«Ryan's a heart-and-soul player who competes every shift,» Kraken general manager Jason Botterill said in a press release. «He does whatever it takes to win and has been a key fixture on the penalty kill throughout his career. We're excited to welcome him to the team.»

Now, after a short stint in Colorado, and another trip to the playoffs, GM Jason Botterill felt it he was a necessary addition to the Kraken roster.
Lindgren played a total of 72 games this season, split between the New York Rangers and Colorado Avalanche. He'd score a total of 22 points (4-18), 128 blocks, and 80 hits this year.
Lindgren would land in Colorado as a result of a trade that sent him and forward Jimmy Vesey West, in a deal that sent center Juuso Parssinen and defenseman Calvin de Haan in return.
The Avalanche didn't appear to have plans to keep him on the blue line. In the meantime, he'll get a fresh start in the PNW with former Rangers teammate, Kaapo Kakko, who was given an extension by GM Jason Botterill as well.
Now, the Kraken have gotten a little meaner. Could this change their fortunes down the road?
