Former New York Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba now suits up for the Anaheim Ducks after a trade in December. Unironically, Drury would use the Ducks as a dumping ground for Rangers' veterans as Kreider joins him, amidst great praise from Trouba.

On December 6th, 2024, the Anaheim Ducks acquired Jacob Trouba in return for defenseman Urho Vaakanainen and a 2025 4th-round pick.
This arguably is the trade which has kickstarted the Rangers retooling which has been omnipresent to this day. The latest victim this offseason, was 13-year veteran, Chris Kreider.
Kreider would later join Trouba and be reunited in Anaheim.
With Kreider's trade, it marks the end of an era in Rangers hockey, but it begins anew in Orange County, as Trouba made it a point to compliment Kreider this week.
«Chris has always been a great teammate when I've played with him,» Trouba told NHLPA.com. «He has a way of connecting with young players and creating a real sense of team. The way he shows up every day and works on his game is something everyone can learn from.»

Kreider joins a scrappy, rebuilding Ducks team, which received a 3rd round pick attached with the veteran.
They hope he can bring a stabilizing presence to the lineup, as the team has higher aspirations with the acquisition of Kreider, and most recently, Coach Joel Quenneville.
Trouba knows Kreider's strengths and weaknesses, and they were teammates for five years (2019-24) in New York.
Former Rangers forward Ryan Strome, who is familiar with both players, hopes these two pieces can turn the corner for the Ducks in 2025-26.
«There is a ton of excitement around the team because of how good our young players already are and how good everyone thinks they can be,» said Strome.

«It's awesome and a privilege to play in SoCal for the Ducks, but I'd be lying to say the last few years haven't been tough at times. So, with bright days ahead, there's endless optimism.»

Kreider's presence may be the spark needed to put the Ducks on a winning path in 2025.
