Rangers Star Garners Incredible Recognition During Winning Streak
Igor Shesterkin has been named the NHL's third star of the week for his 3-0-0, 1.00 GAA and .975 SV% showing!
He stopped 41 shots, including all 17 he faced in the third period, in a 3-1 win versus the Dallas Stars Feb. 20.
Igor Shesterkin then made 39 saves in each of his next two starts, a 5-1 triumph against the New Jersey Devils Feb. 22 (during which he also collected his third career assist) and a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers Feb. 24 (during which the Rangers tied a franchise record with their 10th consecutive victory dating to Jan. 27).
Igor Shesterkin was asked if it's more fun to make a pass like this one or to make a big save:
"If I make a good pass, tape-to-tape, I can watch that moment all night. It's better than a save."
An incredible upswing into the final stretch of the season after what was a shaky down season for him, he is playing his best game now when the team needs him the most!
Congratulations Igor Shesterkin, our No. 1 goalie!
