Toronto Maple Leafs star bans the media from his charity event
Toronto Maple Leafs star bans media from his charity event after recent trade rumours.
This offseason has been filled with rumours and speculation of Maple Leafs star, Mitch Marner being traded out of Toronto by many reporters and outlets.
During and interview Marner decided to push back at the media by banning them from his charity event.
Local news stations were granted interviews on Friday, when the on-ice activities were held, with the understanding that they would keep the questions about the event. Both major sports networks (TSN and Sportsnet) were told not to attend.
Marner ended up speaking with local media outlets to promote the charity event he's hosting, surprisingly the question were kept strictly to the event instead of his future with the Maple Leafs.
Mitch Marner is doing media rounds for his Marner Assist Foundation today, a great charity now in its 6th year.
This year, though, has been quite different as far as interviews go. No #Leafs questions permitted.
Here is the interview he did with CTV this hour.
Completely understandable for Marner to set this boundary, as the main focus should be on the charity event and raising funds instead of own issues.
