With the news of the Arizona Coyotes operations being sold to Ryan Smith of the Utah Jazz, Frank Seravalli of the daily face off explains that this situation is a great achievement for many reasons.
After 20 plus year debacle in the desert, the NHS will see their most beleaguered franchise be turned into a proper operation that will be playing in an NHL quality building which is the delta center.
As Seravalli mentions, the Utah franchise will be housed in one of the fastest growing cities in the United States as Salt Lake City is the 5th fastest.
Another aspect is the fact that Ryan Smith himself is an active member an aggressive owner who will seek out great talent and be willing to pay whatever it takes to help win a Stanley Cup for Utah.
With the NHL in their fan base is watching the Vegas Golden Knights and the Seattle Kraken Becoming elite franchises in a very short period, gives Smith reasons to believe that he can do the same with his Utah franchise.
It's expected on Thursday that the NHL Board of Governors will meet and vote on the sale of the coyotes to Ryan Smith and move the team to Utah.
