"Upside Is Tremendous": Mike Sullivan Praises Matthew Robertson Amid Rangers' Early 2025 Injury Woes

Following the New York Rangers optional practice on Saturday morning, head coach Mike Sullivan meet with the media and spoke out on the upside of one particular defensive prospect.
That defensive prospect being, 24-year old Matthew Robertson, who stunned many fans as he made the New York Rangers roster for opening-night after the organization decided to cut Scott Morrow instead.
However, Mike Sullivan had just recently spoke out on Robertson on Saturday morning as the New York Rangers get prepared to take on the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday Night.
With that being said, Sullivan spoke to Peter Baugh of The Athletic and gave his honest opinion on Robertson and what he has liked from him early in the 2025-26 season.

New York Rangers Injury Situation Provides Matthew Robertson With The Perfect Opportunity
Over the last few weeks the Rangers have been dealing with several injuries, including veteran forward Vincent Trocheck who has been placed on LTIR and then defenseman Carson Soucy who has been placed on IR, something that has given defensive prospect Matthew Robertson the perfect opportunity.
Since then, Robertson has been the defenseman to step up and fill in for Soucy since his injury. Resulting in him to have play in the Rangers last three games out of their last six this season.
Hopefully Mike Sullivan is making the right call with Robertson, as it appears he can hold his own has been very solid so far in the season.
