The Rangers Are Looking For Postseason Immortality Tonight
Rangers are the 12th team in NHL history to begin a postseason 7-0. History favors teams that have this level of success in the postseason
Of the previous 11 to do it, eight went on to win the Stanley Cup, including the Rangers in 1994. The three that didn't lost in the Stanley Cup Final. The 1985 Oilers have the NHL record for longest win streak to begin a postseason with nine. But what the Rangers can do tonight will be legendary.
Since 1987, when the Stanley Cup playoffs expanded to four rounds of best-of-seven, no NHL team has ever opened a playoff run with back-to-back sweeps to go a perfect 8-0.
Achieving a little good history is never a bad thing. The most important goal however, is winning the Stanley Cup! We will be halfway there with a win tonight!
