The New York Rangers collectively, couldn't finish the job to end the Florida Panthers Stanley Cup run.

After losing the Eastern Conference Finals, the President Cup Trophy curse seems alive and well. Despite the fact the team won 2 out of 6 games against the Panthers, it just wasn't good enough.

It showed on the ice, as they were many defensive lapses and many highly-skilled players who ended up ghosting the team in important minutes.
Even Drury made the statement that he supported the Rangers players individually, but their performance as a unit was lacking:
Drury on whether #NYR core is good enough to win Cup:

"It was a disappointing end to the season, but... I do believe in our players individually Now it's part of the job to figure out if this group collectively can get us where we want to be. That process is already underway."
Even then, players like Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider, and Mika Zibanejad had to become impact players.
But, it seems as if Igor Shesterkin's influence, while pronounced was the legitimate savior of the season. His teammates wouldn't hold up their end of the bargain.
Even as their regular season record deserves accolades, the money is made in the postseason, whereas a 55-23-4 record means nothing, against a hungry Panthers squad.
The Rangers finished with 114 points total, with a .695 winning percentage and 1st place in the Metropolitan Division, above the Carolina Hurricanes.
They will need key pieces in the lineup to continue to make the Stanley Cup dreams come true.
