New York Rangers star defenseman Adam Fox is a great teammate. His contributions to the success of the Rangers organization are not unnoticed. One of those contributions is that Fox makes everyone around him better, including two former teammates K'Andre Miller and Ryan Lindgren.

Adam Fox is a former Norris Trophy-winning defenseman and the Rangers' #1 guy on the team.
His play elevates everyone around him, including his partners, who benefit from his skills. Those last two players? K'Andre Miller and Ryan Lindgren.
An NHL Tiktoker issued a controversial statement, which may have some truth behind it:
«[Fox] just got two of his former teammates massively overpaid, all because of him,» popular hockey content creator Mike Bartner stated on Tik Tok.

While this isn't necessarily the full truth surrounding both players, they did benefit from playing on the same pair as Fox. Both defenseman were signed by new clubs this week, including Miller, who landed an 8-year, $60 million deal, while Lindgren signed in Seattle for 4 years, worth a total of $18 million.
Both would flourish on the same pairing as Fox, as we saw Miller be one of two options that complemented Fox. But Lindgren benefited the most.

K'Andre Miller

Miller played on Fox's left in a shutdown role we saw a regression with last season. While Miller's development in New York hasn't been up to the kind of speed we'd like, the duo owned the ice together:
In 361 minutes together at even strength, Miller and Fox controlled over 61 percent of goals scored and posted a 64.72 expected goals share, per Natural Stat Trick.

They'd allow only 109 shots against while generating 207 chances. While his numbers would dip after he was taken off the same pair as Fox.
Those numbers dropped when Miller was not paired with Fox. His goals-for percentage dropped to 44.33 percent and his expected goals share dipped to just 41.9 percent.

Is it a matter of Miller being with the right partners? His production dipped with Jacob Trouba, and slightly recovered with Will Borgen.
Either way, he could benefit from the system that Rod Brind'Amour runs in Carolina. He'll have to make it work, considering the investment in his talents.
Thanks to Fox's help, Miller is getting paid more than Jacob Slavin, who has been a long-time Hurricanes veteran.

Ryan Lindgren

Lindgren is another former Rangers defenseman who has benefited from playing to Fox's left.
The two played together from 2019-2025, before he was shipped out to Colorado, and would end up taking part in the Colorado Avalanche's playoff run this season.
n 5214:23 minutes together at even strength (regular season), Lindgren and Fox posted a 55.46 goals-for percentage and a decent 47.89 percent expected goals share. When Lindgren was away from Fox, though, things were not nearly as pretty - his xGF fell to just 45.0 percent and his expected goals percentage dropped to 43.6 percent.
While Fox remains a dominant figure in the lineup with a 63 goals-for percentage, and a 62.9 percent of expected goals share.

Upon returning from injury, the wear and tear on the warrior's body would show, and Fox would remain the more productive of the two. While the Avalanche did want to re-sign Lindgren, he opted to test free agency and earned a nice $4.5 million AAV payday.

They both owe Fox an obligatory "thank you" for helping to get them where they are now.
