New York Rangers sign former divisional rival defenseman to a professional tryout

The New York Rangers have added another player to their training camp roster as they've signed Madison Bowey to a PTO.

NHL insider, Rick Dhaliwal has just confirmed that the New York Rangers have signed 29 year old defenseman, Madison Bowey to a Professional Tryout (PTO).
Bowey was originally drafted by the Washington Capitals in the second round, 53rd overall pick of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and signed a three-year, entry-level contract April 2, 2014, with the Capitals. However, Bowey only made his NHL debut for the Capitals against three years later as they faced the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 14, 2017.
Overall Bowey as only spent six season in the NHL, with his first two season were with the Washington Capitals before he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings on Feb. 22, 2019, where he played only two seasons with them before moving to the Chicago Blackhawks for a single season and then finally he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks but only managed to play two games with them.
Throughout his six seasons in the NHL he managed to only tally 5 goals, 35 assists for a total of 40 points in 158 NHL career games.
Last season Bowey opted to sign overseas, where he signed a a one-year deal with Belarus based Dinamo Minsk of the KHL, after not receiving a contract offer before the start of 2023-24 season.
