New York Rangers miss out on adding serious depth to their coaching staff following latest announcement

The New York Rangers have already found their next head coach as they recently hired two-time Stanley Cup champion Mike Sullivan as their 38th head coach in franchise history.

Throughout the 2024-25 season things got ugly for the New York Rangers as they faced struggles all season long, which lead to them missing this years playoffs. Something that GM Chris Drury drastically needed to address.

However, Drury has done just that by quickly hiring Mike Sullivan as soon as he came available by the Penguins. But now, they need to finish establishing their coaching staff by adding an assistant coach, one of those names being ex-Blackhawks and Panthers Coach Joel Quenneville.

The same coach who won three-cups with the Blackhawks organization, and Stan Bowman behind him.

According to recent reports that clearly wont happen anymore as Joel Quenneville was hired by the Anaheim Ducks to take over as their 12th coach in franchise history.

Maybe this was for the best for the New York Rangers organization as they didn't seem to interested in hiring Quenneville considering his controversial history that led to his departure from the National Hockey League.
