Just moments ago the New York Rangers have announced some very unfortunate news regarding their fan favourite enforcer as a recent heated altercation continues to develop into a serious issue.
Back on October 23rd, New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe was involved in a very heated altercation with San Jose Sharks enforcer
Ryan Reaves and was forced to exit the game early after sustaining an upper-body injury.
Something that has continued to developed into a bigger issue as most recently head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed the 23-year old would in fact be out "longer term" after suffering an upper-body injury.
Got a little clarity on the Matt Rempe injury. My understanding is that he'll be out for multiple weeks, if not months. It's not considered season-ending but I'm not expecting a return until some point later in the season. #NYR
However, things continue to get worse as the Rangers have now been forced to place Rempe on Injured Reserve (IR)
New York Rangers Place Matt Rempe On Injured Reserve
Now that Rempe has missed the Rangers last four games, the organization is left with no choice but to place him on Injured Reserve (IR). Unfortunately with this announcement no other details on Rempe's status has been released.
With that, #NYR are placing Matt Rempe on IR. As I mentioned last week, expectation is he's going to miss significant time.
Certainly some terrible news for the Rangers, as Rempe provides the team with the toughness factor and a sense of safety, so losing him for a long period of time just may start to effect the team when they face stronger teams.
Do you think the New York Rangers will need to place Matt Rempe on LTIR? Let us know in the poll down below.
