As the New York Rangers just traded their longest-tenured player, Chris Kreider, to the Anaheim Ducks this offseason, many fans have been wondering who will step up to take his place in the lineup.

However, according to reports, it appears that New York Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan feels that 23-year old forward Will Cuylle will be able to step up and take over the significant role that Chris Kreider once had.
Certainly the right type of player to step up and take over such a significant role, as Will Cuylle has truly shown great promise over his first two full seasons in the National Hockey League. Cuylle has proven to be skilled offensively and brings a physical aspect that the Rangers need.

Can Will Cuylle Fill The Void Left In The New York Rangers Lineup?

Now that Chris Kreider will no longer be with the Rangers, Cuylle now has the perfect opportunity to step up and take on an increased workload, something that seems possible as Mike Sullivan seems to faith in Cuylle filling the void left by Kreider.
«His power game, his ability to go to the net, his physical edge that he brings to the line that he's on is impressive," Sullivan said via NHL.com. «He's a different player than 'Kreids,' so I don't know it's going to be an identical role, but it'll be similar.»

Along with that, New York Rangers legendary broadcaster, Sam Rosen, also believes that Cuylle has what it takes to make this big jump in his career.
«It opens the door for Will Cuylle to be the next Chris Kreider,» Rosen said of what the Kreider trade does for Cuylle. «Cuylle has all the tools necessary to be a big star in this league. He's physical, unafraid, battles in the corners, battles in front, goal scoring increased from first year to second year. He could be a 30-goal scorer.»

This past season, Cuylle managed to tallie 20 goals, 25 assists, and 45 points in 82 games while averaging 15:05 minutes per game. something that helped him earn a two-year extension worth $7.8 Million on July 1st.
