However, things continue to get emotional as Kreider's former teammates speak out on the trade, and even their wife's, in particular
Mika Zibanejad's wife Irma Helin Zibanejad.
NHL Insider Frank Seravalli was the first to report the beginning of this trade on Wednesday night, as the New York Rangers entered "advanced talks" with the Anaheim Ducks regarding Rangers longest-tenured player, Chris Kreider.
After days of waiting to see where the trade would go, Chris Kreider made the final decision to sign off on the trade, ending his time in New York.
Kreider originally had a partial no-trade clause, a modified 15-team no-trade list, and one of those teams were the Anaheim Ducks. However, the 34-year old has agreed to terms and signed off on the trade, meaning he has waived his clause, and will now join several former New York Rangers teammates such as
Jacob Trouba,
Ryan Strome, and
Frank Vatrano.
Leaving the New York Rangers to move up 15 spots in the 2025 NHL Draft as the Rangers will receive
Carey Terrance and the Maple Leafs 2025 3rd round pick (89th overall), while the Ducks will get Chris Kreider and their original 2025 4th round pick that they gave up when they landed Jacob Trouba. Along with this the New York Rangers will not retain any of Kreiders cap.
