The New York Rangers have a number of unrestricted free agents to hit the open market as of July 1st.
While all players express their desire to return with the organization next season, their veteran forward Blake Wheeler is not certain of his future.
The 37-year old forward's future is currently in limbo as he ponders the possibility of retirement, as he recently addressed the media on wanting to be home more for his kids.
«I have three kids: an 11-year-old, an 8-year-old, a 6-year-old. The 11-year-old's gonna be in middle school next year,» Wheeler said. «When you come to make those decisions now, I still love the game, still love to play, but I want to be around for their childhood, too, so I think those are the things you weigh.»
In February, Blake Wheeler suffered a leg injury that kept him for the remainder of the regular season and the majority of the playoffs as he made return for game 4 in the Eastern Conference finals.
However with that being said he still made 54 appearances for the Rangers this season, and managed to tally up 21 points with 9 goals, and 12 assists.
