The New York Rangers had a good playoff run until they met the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
In the Conference Final, they got out-worked and out-played, eventually getting bounced in six games by the Panthers. After that, GM Chris Drury is looking for a change with the roster.
Mika Zibanejad has been on the radar to be traded from the Rangers. Zibanejad has been linked to the Boston Bruins, according to Lyle Richardson of Bleacher Report.
Boston is on the search for a #1 center after Patrice Bergeron retired. Zacha just isn't cutting it for the Bruins.
The return could include Matthew Poitras, Boston's top prospect, along with John Beecher.
Poitras would be preferred, as he's a center and only 20 years old with a very high ceiling. Poitras had five goals and 15 points in 35 games with the Bruins last season.
It'll be tough to make the trade work as Zibanejad has six years left at $8.5 million.
