Head Coach Mike Sullivan Provides Inside Scoop Regarding New York Rangers Vacant Captaincy

New York Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan has just provided his latest thoughts on the organizations vacant captaincy as the NHL season quickly approaches.
The New York Rangers have now been without a captain for nearly a year, ever since they traded away former captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks back on December 6th. However, the team could very well name their next captain before the 2024-25 season starts.
As reported in the past from Rangers insider Vince Z. Mercogliano of Lohud.com, there is a clear answer as to who the organization should name as their next captain, that answer being either Vincent Trocheck, J.T. Miller or Adam Fox, all three great candidates.

Remy Mastey of The Hockey News, has just gave all of us some insight on what Mike Sullivan truly thinks about the leadership within the New York Rangers organization.
Here's what he had to say:
«The one takeaway that I have from those conversations is I think there's a fair amount of leadership in that room,» Sullivan said. «So, whether you wear a letter or you don't wear a letter, leadership manifests itself in so many different ways.
«I think there's a lot of character in that room, just based on the initial conversations that I've had with these guys. Chris and I will work through some of those challenges.»

Now this unfortunately doesn't give any indications as to who Mike Sullivan would prefer to be named as the franchise's 30th captain, but it certainly tells us that he's happy with the leadership that he is seeing.
Hopefully this will help the New York Rangers come to a final decision before opening night, as the only two teams in the National Hockey League who don't have a captain, is the Rangers and the Boston Bruins.
