The New York Rangers traded Filip Chytil, and Victor Mancini plus a first-round pick for JT Miller. Former Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Bruce Boudreau made a statement today, that is skeptical that the Rangers won this deal.
The Vancouver Canucks finally dealt away
J.T. Miller in a trade that took weeks to finalize.
The Rangers and Canucks would exchange major pieces in a trade that brought former center Miller back into the fold. Yet, Miller's old coach Bruce Boudreau would make his thoughts on the deal known.
He was asked whether or not the trade made the Canucks a better team in the future.
Potentially over the long haul? Yes, I think they can. I think they can be better. I also think they can be better because obviously, the room wasn't working. They weren't playing for each other like you're supposed to be playing.
Boudreau feels that the Canucks made a positive move, sending away what many people thought was the cancer in the team's locker room.
However, for the Canucks the benefit of the trade has yet to be seen as they've received on NHL player in Filip Chytil, a prospect in Victor Mancini, and a protected first-round pick.
A pick that could formulate the team's future success down the road.
Boudreau would note that the Canucks will miss his talent in the lineup, as Miller was one of the team's best forwards.
Miller is one great hockey player when he wants to play, and he's proven it this weekend in New York even though they split the games, he got two goals the first game two assists today. I mean, he's he's a 100 point player all the way.
The Canucks could benefit from the first-round pick as they could trade it for top talent, or utilize a player like Mancini to flip at the deadline for veteran talent.
This could be a nice retool for the Canucks.
While the Rangers have gotten steady production out of Miller already, and you could say they have won the trade.
Depending on how you view trading futures like Mancini, and a draft pick.
Since the Rangers want to win a Cup, they'll have to sell, sell, and sell. Especially if the team isn't playing up to expectations as former Presidents Trophy Winners.
