Charles William «Pete» Conacher Jr. played during the original-six era, spending most of his career playing with the Chicago Blackhawks, before joining the New York Rangers and then the Toronto Maple Leafs for his final season.
The Toronto Maple Leafs released a statement following Conacher's passing:
Conacher player over 229 games, he scored 47 goals and added 39 assists for a total of 86 points. Towards the end of his career, Conacher moved to the New York Rangers, appearing in 93 games, where he managed to put up 21 goals and 18 assists over the two seasons he was with the Rangers.
In the 1957-58 season, he followed in his father Charlie's footsteps by joining the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Pete's father, Charlie Conacher, was a star for the Leafs from 1929 to 1938, playing in 328 games and scoring 224 goals with 396 points in his career.
Despite Pete not putting up as many points as his father, he left his own mark on the game and Canadian sports, especially after his NHL career. Pete then became the President of the Ontario Chapter of Special Olympics Canada, making a big impact off the ice.
Pete Conacher will deeply be missed by many throughout the hockey community.
On behalf of NY Rangers Insider we seed our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Pete Conacher as they navigate through this difficult time.
May you rest in peace.
