Broadcaster Discusses The Importance Of Rangers Achieving History
The Rangers have gone 20-4-1 in their last 25 games, and have vaulted themselves as the front runners for not only the best record in the East, but the whole league.
Broadcaster Matthew P. Mugno, and sports anchor Dexter Henry discuss the importance of securing a top seed in the playoffs:
"To gain home ice advantage and to reach the 50 win mark would be enormous for this team specifically and in Ranger history."
It would be an incredible achievement for the Rangers.
The best season in franchise history was the 2014-2015 season, when they clinched their third Presidents Trophy and eighth division title by finishing with the best record in the NHL at 53227.
The 53 wins and 113 points both set franchise records.
Unfortunately the season ended with a heartbreaking seven game series loss in the conference finals to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Funny enough, that Rangers team is the most recent Presidents Trophy winners to advance past the second round of the playoffs.
Securing the top seed is important, especially in the Eastern Conference.
But the biggest achievement every team wants is the Stanley Cup, and if securing the top seed is what helps the Rangers achieve their fifth championship, then go for it!
