Evgeni Kuznetsov, also known as the shootout king with his shot, looks to be headed to the KHL.
Kuznetsov's home country is Russia, and he'll be returning there this upcoming season. Kuznetsov will be making $1.1 million next season.
The thing is, Evgeni would have made $8 million if he had stayed in the NHL and played with the Carolina Hurricanes. So he terminated his own contract to take a $7 million pay cut to go play in the KHL.
Per reports,
Evgeny Kuznetsov will terminate the final year of his NHL contract that he originally signed with the Capitals and sign in the KHL.
No one really knows why he did this, but it could be to see his family after being placed in the assistance program.
Kuznetsov goes to the KHL after having his worst year in the NHL, only tallying 24 points in 63 games.
