Controversy sparks: National Hockey League set to add new overtime rule
The National Hockey League to implement new KHL rule that they've added to their league this past season.
The KHL was testing out a new rule that would not allow players with puck possession to retreat back across their side of center, or a minor penalty will be called after the second violation
Even since the NHL Implemented the 3-on-3 overtime, players have continuously held onto the puck by cycling back into their zone to regroup, make line change or to make a rush.
With The new rule in the KHL, the first violation the team makes will result in a faceoff in the opposing team's zone and every other violation will result in a 2-minute minor penalty.
NHL senior vice-president of hockey operations Colin Campbell, released a statement regarding this rule:
«We don't mind the format; the one thing we don't like is it that they have decided that possession is key, and you get those boot-backs, kick-backs all the time."
If you had notice why it the score was 4-0 in overtime, the KHL has also released a explanation on that rule:
