The Great 8, Alexander Ovechkin has officially tied Wayne Greyzky's all-time goal record as he scored goal number 894 against the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night.
Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals are hosting the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night, leaving the great eight only one goal away from breaking the insane record.
Coming into Friday nights game, Ovechkin was only two goals behind Gretzky needed a hat trick to claim the record for the most NHL goals scored.

Just as Alex Ovechkin scored his second goal and thought he he had tied the all-time goal record, the play was reviewed and revealed that a Blackhawks player put the puck into his own net after a rebound shot from Dylan Strome.
It appeared Alex Ovechkin may had just tied Gretzky's record, but upon further review, the Blackhawks hit it in their own net before Ovi could touch it.

Obviously that didn't matter as Ovechkin officially scored his second goal of the night on the power play just moments after, recording his 41st goal of the season and career goal 894.
Truly great to witness such an amazing player reach such a milestone, now that he is only one goal away from breaking the record, fans and all hockey enthusiasts will be watching his next game.
