The Rangers need to switch it up a bit, but don't have a lot of cap space to do so.
So, why not go to your prospect pool and see what you got? Who can join the team next year?
This is a longshot, but Gabe Perrault is currently the #1 prospect in the Rangers' system.
Perrault was the 23rd pick in last year's draft after falling to them. Perrault, only 19, had 60 points in 36 games at the University of Boston College of the NCAA last year. It's unlikely he'll make the team, but he's there if you ever want to try him if there's an injury if he doesn't play in the NCAA next year.
The more realistic choice is winger Brennan Othmann.
Othmann is 21 years old and was a 16th overall pick in the 2021 draft. Othmann had 49 points in 68 games with the Hartford Wolfpack. You'll be able to throw him on the third or fourth line next year if you want, as he's already played some NHL hockey.
