Trade Proposal: Rangers to acquire $27.5 million forward in massive 4-player blockbuster
The New York Rangers could use more help down the middle, and what better way to do so than add reliable veteran talent. Adding the Columbus Blue Jackets' Sean Monahan down the middle would add a playmaking center in the lineup and increase the team's chances at a playoff spot, should GM Chris Drury want to trade with their divisional rivals.
With a new Head Coach and goals of making the playoffs in 2025-2026, the Rangers need more help.
What better way than to tap into a forward who would be a great addition on the 2nd or 3rd line in the organization? That player is the Columbus Blue Jackets' own, Sean Monahan, who has been a key piece in the Blue Jackets organization since he arrived.
We have a trade proposal that might give you some pause, but given the immediate help in the top-six the Rangers should receive, it's worth exploring.

Monahan just completed the first year of his $27.5 million deal in Columbus, and Zach Aston-Reese's price tag is team-friendly at $775K.
The Rangers get help on the top and bottom-six with Monahan adding skill on the second line. This season for the Blue Jackets, he scored a total of 57 points (19 goals, 38 assists) in 54 games.
While they would have to sacrifice a young prospect like Adam Sykora and defenseman K'Andre Miller, it would put them in a better environment to succeed, as the Blue Jackets organization is still rebuilding.
Miller wouldn't have the noise surrounding him in Columbus, like he does in MSG, and could give him a shot to play low-pressure hockey in Nationwide Arena.
Sykora could ultimately compete for a spot on the roster in Columbus next season.
He'd restock the prospect pool in Columbus after they chose not to keep Tyler Peddle and Martin Rysavy.
