In a recent article, New York Post reporter Larry brooks feels that the New York Rangers needs to move on from forward Barclay Goodrow.

He makes the argument that the 31-year-old forward currently holds a cap hit of $3.64 million per year and was found on the fourth line of the team when head coach Peter laviolette was asked to iced 12 forwards.

This discussion is an ongoing one which has several pundits and fans asking questions on whether this form of the Rangers should continue to go forward or should general manager Chris jury make drastic changes even though that team won a record 55 games this season and went nearly to the Stanley Cup Final.

Brooks has suggested that jury along with his management team should be willing to trade Goodrow during the 2024 NHL Entry Draft which will take place on June 28. It's possible some teams would be willing to acquire his services, but it's unlikely they would be able to acquire him with the full salary intact to which the Rangers would need to eat some salary possibly up to 25% in order to make a deal work.

There's also the buy-out option which would have a $1.11 million cap hit over the next six seasons which would help free up some money to help augment other parts of the roster including more speed and more scoring punch.

With the entry draft less than two weeks away, it remains to be seen on what Drury will do with Goodrow But it's likely he will look at every option possible to see if something can be done to help improve his team going for next year.
