The Rangers are preparing to closeout their season with three games remaining and it appears the team is struggling with teams ramping up their intensity. Rangers reporter Matthew Mugno of The Hockey News tweeted out after their loss to the New York Islanders on why the team seems to be shocked about other teams intensity.
The Rangers lost 4-2 and will face two more teams within their division including the Islanders for a rematch. It's widely expected that the Flyers and the Islanders will be bringing a game as both teams are fighting for their survival in the playoff race.
The issue of complacency certainly is 1 to keep an eye on as the Rangers are still trying to hold onto their metropolitan lead as the Carolina Hurricanes are right behind them with three points separating first and 2nd. Within the next few days, this will be settled as both teams are 79 games into their season.
With head coach Peter Laviolette, it's likely he will be crossing the message to his players not to fall into this trap as the Rangers felt that they should have won their first round last year and fell flat by losing to the Devils.
Their final game of the season will be at home against the Ottawa Senators which will likely be a game where they will be resting players.
