NHL Analyst reveals New York Rangers star forward is likely to be traded following the J.T. Miller trade
NHL analyst shockingly reveals that the New York Rangers are likely to trade this star player, now that they have acquired J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks.
Now that Miller is officially back with the Rangers organization and has excelled during his first few games since returning, indicating that another forward may be traded.
With the Rangers currently out of a playoff spot, they decided to combine with the Vancouver Canucks for a massive trade about a week ago, which saw the Rangers reacquire J.T. Miller along with
Erik Brannstrom and
Jackson Dorrington.
The Rangers sent out
Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a 2025 first-round pick in return to the Canucks.
By adding Miller to the Rangers lineup, who is currently in a five-year $8 Million AAV contract, the Rangers are left with three proven centre who are locked in long-term deals.
However, the big question is how will this affect Zibanejad's future with the New York Rangers?
New York Rangers star Mika Zibanejad becomes the most likely forward to be traded
Former NHL player turned analyst Steven Valiquette believes that Zibanejad could be the one that will likely no longer be with the team in the near future:
«I think [J.T. Miller] is more about next year... It's like, 'Can we take what we have, clean it up, trim the fat.' But trimming the fat most likely includes trying to move Mika Zibanejad.»
- Stephen Valiquette
As it's highly unlikely that Miller will leave the organization, and that
Vincent Trocheck is likely to become the next captain, it only leaves Zibanejad as the one to be moved.
However, with a role change, and 30 games to go, each one being a playoff battle, all eyes will be on Zibanejad as he desperately needs to prove himself.
