New York Rangers have just confirmed Chris Drury's fate with the organization and fans aren't happy

The New York Rangers have made an announcement, as today they have given GM Chris Drury a multi-year extension with the team. Is James Dolan's confidence in Drury overstated after he's fired another coach?
The New York Rangers and GM Chris Drury have come to terms only days after firing former Head Coach Peter Laviolette.
You can't even begin to speak of this season in a positive manner, given the drama and chaos that surrounded it from the beginning. Who's to blame for it? Some of it IS Drury's fault to own.
Considering he was the GM who sent a league-wide memo to teams everywhere stating the Rangers are open for business, and that Chris Kreider would be available for trade. Is this extension warranted?
«I am honored to sign this contract extension and continue in this position with the team I grew up supporting,» Drury said. «As I said when I began in this role nearly four years ago, there isn't a more special organization in hockey and I look forward to continuing our work this offseason to help us reach our goals for next season and in the coming years.»
The team finished fifth with a record of 39-36-7 in a Division they dominated only a year prior, along with winning a Presidents' Trophy.
While our normal reaction would tend to be "Congratulations", this just seems like a reward for more status quo garbage we've had to endure for another year.
Drury is the 12th General Manager in franchise history and began the job at the end of the 2021 NHL season.
Since then, the Rangers have made the playoffs regularly, but haven't been good enough to win a Stanley Cup.
Drury's regular season record as GM of the Rangers stands at 193-105-30, and one Presidents' Trophy.
He's fired Gerard Gallant, David Quinn, and Peter Laviolette.
