New York Mets play tribute to the New York Rangers following Juan Soto's glorious home run
Juan Soto of the New York Mets hit an amazing home run last night at Citi Field. In a show of love, Citi Field, the home of the Mets, would play the Rangers' goal horn in celebration as Soto made the trip home. While not as epic as an Artemi Panarin goal, Soto's home run put a stake in the hopes of the Chicago Cubs.
The New York Mets and Chicago Cubs played last night. The Mets would finish off the Cubs with a sound 7-2 victory in Citi Field.
But that victory didn't come without some brotherly love for another team that shares the state of New York with them, the Rangers.
Soto's home run gave the Mets a 6-1 run in the bottom of the 4th against the Cubs, a 434-foot dinger which was impressive.
Afterwards, the team would cue the Rangers' goal horn, exciting the fans in the stadium to get off their seats and take joy in the sound defeat of the Chicago Cubs that night.
The reason for the occasion? It was hockey night at Citi Field!
Soto would take 4 at-bats that night, with 1 homerun, 1 BB, 1 run batted in, 2 hits, and scored 1 run.
The Mets were on fire last night, as Soto delivered the heat, along with superstar Pete Alonso, who took a significant part in beating the Cubs last night on May 9th.
While the Rangers may not be playing right now, the Mets didn't forget their brothers, as they were celebrated last night in an MLB park.
Maybe next year, Mike Sullivan and the team can give them a better reason to do so, if they can make the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2026.
This isn't the only time the Mets have utilized the Rangers' goal horn, as they did so a year ago during the same event.
