Trade completed: The Rangers and Canucks officially combine for blockbuster trade involving J.T. Miller
Breaking news emerges on Saturday night as the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks combined for a blockbuster trade.
Several reports have surfaced regarding this trade but it all started with Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal that reported Miller was scratched from their lineup on Friday night against the Dallas Stars.
Along with revealing he had agreed to waive his no-trade clause for a blockbuster deal with the New York Rangers.
Several other sources have confirmed that the deal is done, and that the Canucks will also be sending other pieces and prospects in a larger package.
Per Vince Z. Mercogliano, who is a respected Rangers insider, has revealed the Canucks were mostly interested in promising Rangers defenseman
Braden Schneider, but the Rangers repeatedly said
«no, so they pivot to a less proven young right-handed defenseman with a similar profile" in Mancini.
For Miller, he returns to the Rangers and the team that drafted him in the first round in 2011 (15th overall). Where he spent the first six years of his career there, before the Rangers dealt him to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Insider Frank Seravalli has also revealed that the Canucks will not retain any of Millers contract.
